Week Nine of a Nine Week Mission, to Seek new life for the Senate, to Boldly hand Harry Reid a trick instead of a treat! Last call, people!
Focusing on the Senate races, is it worth ten bucks a week to you (four pounds of candy corn?) to eliminate Reid’s control and give the Senate responsible leadership again?
With that in mind, here are the eight candidates we’ve backed to date:
Joni Erst – Iowna +2.1
Dan Sullivan – Alaska + 2.2
(All polls via Real Clear Politics)
Originally, the plan was to contribute to the race in MI, where the Dem has a double digit lead. Therefore, my recommendation is to tag one of the above with a second contribution and put your money where it may do the most good.

Apologies for a lack of posting the last few days. I must confess a certain amount of distress at Obama’s re-election. To say that the news was disheartening would be too mild. The ramifications of another four years of leftism will certainly try our patience and perseverance but soldier on we must in the name of conservatism. What choice do we have? That said, posting will likely be light in the near future as I recharge and tend to some off-line activities.
In the mean time, I recently received a newsletter from my friend and fellow southeast Texan, Peter Morrison that I would like to share with you. If you haven’t subscribed to his newsletter, I urge you to do so. Keep the faith my friends, after all, God is in charge.
Election Night Analysis: Our Nation’s Future – The Peter Morrison Report
I know a lot of you are in shock today with the results of the election. In the Peter Morrison Report, one of my continuing themes is that the problems America faces demographically are becoming more and more intractable. I kind of expected this to happen, though like a lot of you I was hopeful over the last few weeks. The root of the word patriotism is the Latin word for father, and I would compare the emotional hurt washing over the conservative movement to that of caring for an aging parent with a degenerative disease. You know how the story is going to end, but it is very painful every step of the way as you see it happen. Last night America took one more step towards the abyss.
I cannot blame the Romney campaign for the loss. In the debates, Romney mostly held the line on taxes, immigration and other issues. Some may have felt that he was the lesser of two evils, but he was a lot lesser of an evil than McCain in 2008. It’s a shame, because Romney was probably the smartest person to run for President since the Founders, and if he would have continued his data-driven approach to management in government, he could have done a lot of good. In the America of 2012, being successful and smart can unfortunately be a political liability, not an asset. Many Americans would rather the affirmative action poster boy who’s never worked a real job in his life.
Romney is a numbers guy, and so we now know he was absolutely correct when he stated behind closed doors that 47% of the nation was automatically against him because of government dependency; Obama only needed a few “useful idiots” to deliver the election. I think Romney saw the polls last week and decided on a risky strategy of playing for Pennsylvania as his only way out. Just as it was 149 years ago, the fate of the nation was decided in Pennsylvania. The Romney campaign may be remembered as the Pickett’s charge of the conservative movement, a last desperate effort to stave off the cruel arithmetic of superior numbers overcoming principle and valor.
Last night on Fox News, the Bush-Rove wing of the Republican Party was on the air pointing fingers at Romney’s immigration policies as the cause of his loss. This is false because Romney and McCain both did about as well among Hispanics despite McCain being the biggest immigration panderer to the right of Ted Kennedy. It is amazing, however, to see the Cheap Labor Lobby attempt to
squeeze out one last ounce of profit as the Republic burns. The simpler explanation is that many members of minority groups are simply racist against the party most white people happen to vote for. Take Asian Americans, for example. If any group should be Republican, it should be this group, as they earn more money and pay more in taxes than white Americans. They, along with whites, bear the brunt of affirmative action policies; Barack Obama is the living personification of why their kids have to score 200 points higher on the SAT to get into the Ivy League. Yet, exit polls revealed they voted about 70% for Obama. I’m afraid Karl Rove’s bright idea that these groups will vote in their individual self-interest (if we pander to them) instead of on an irrational ethnic basis is delusional. It would be nice for Republicans if the facts were different and we could build a multi-ethnic, colorblind, conservative America, but the evidence is quite to the contrary.
If we can take comfort in anything, it’s that the debt and spending binge of the federal government cannot go on forever. If something cannot go on forever, at some point it must stop. Like the remainder of Lee’s army after Gettysburg, it is our duty to keep fighting to the bitter end, in hopes that Providence might shine upon our cause before it is too late. We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity. But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity.
For the liberals are at war not with just the conservative core of this country, but rather with God and Nature. You simply cannot, in perpetuity, take more and more people out of productive work and onto the government dole. Just as the Soviet Union fell, and Rome with its bread and circuses fell, this government will fall, and a remnant of the American people may, with God’s help, redeem some portion of our founding vision.
In probably the most unintentionally Orwellian lyric in country music, Lee Greenwood sang “the flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.” Lee was right about that, but it’s cold comfort when “they” can take away everything else. “They” re-elected Obama last night. He is their President. And we must admit to ourselves at some point, it is now their country. Just as Scotland is currently contemplating her own independence from Great Britain, it is time for the more conservative constituent parts of this country to consider whether this sacred union is really quite so sacred anymore. Countries all over the world, like the Baltic States and the Czech Republic, have been over the last 20 years securing amicable divorces as the most humane way to settle fundamental cultural differences that lead to the type of governmental paralysis and partisan division we see in America today. The bond between a husband and wife is sacred. National borders, once they have exhausted their historical purpose, are not.
In this respect, Texas can lead the way. Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state. We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years.
In the near term, we have very important battle coming up for the Texas House Speaker. Joe Straus is once again being challenged by a true conservative. Start calling your state representatives now to let them know that we will remember how they vote in 2014. If voting is the best revenge, the low turnout of an off-year Republican primary will offer many opportunities for payback. I’m sure I’ll be in touch as the situation develops.

“Why bankruptcy is preferable to bailouts” by Spellchek
President Obama has been on a chest-thumping tour touting the success of the bailouts both in the auto industry as well as the financial industry.Supporters and critics alike have focused upon what constitutes a success. Some will calculate the cost to the taxpayers.Others will focus on the jobs saved. It is these glass half-empty/half-full arguments that highlight the crux of the problem.Bailouts v. bankruptcy is not an apples to apples comparison.
A bailout by its very nature is the epitome of a reward for past indiscretions. The idea is how best to cushion the blow and alleviate the pain. The fear card plays a big role here as witnessed a full-fledged campaign to warn us of the disaster awaiting should we decline to bailout a failing company/industry.Then to make it worse,we saw government picking the winners and losers in the fallout.
A bankruptcy is intended as a poison pill as much as a legal recourse to alleviate a failing business model. It’s called moral hazard. It is painful by design so it will have a preventative effect. The path chosen by Obama eliminates this.Companies/industries know they can operate with high risk or inefficient practices when an implied guarantee of a bailout is always awaiting.
The key difference is that implied guarantee. It enables risky behavior and distorts the free market. And why not? When you know there is reward as opposed to pain available, who wouldn’t engage in high risk/high reward practices?Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac enabled the housing bubble accordingly.AIG and the other players in the banking sector engaged in the derivatives market with our 401(k)s and pensions as monopoly money.
Bailouts encourage and enable bad business practices.Bankruptcy penalizes it.So when you question whether or not Obama succeeded with his bailouts, you should instead be asking why he engages in a policy that promotes risky investments and inefficient business practices that will eventually require you the taxpayer to pay for it.
“The Libyan Scandal” by What Would The Founders Think
Politicians lie. There is nothing that is earth-shattering about this statement. Presidents are politicians and they generally adhere to the stereotype.
There have been exceptions to the rule, but Presidents like Washington and Garfield are few and far between.
Sometimes presidents lie with the best of intentions. More often than not they lie to protect themselves and their careers.
But while the reasons presidents lie are probably as numerous as the lies that they tell, the depth of mendacity demonstrated by President Obama is unique in American political history. It is not merely that he will do or say anything to remain in office, but the reason he will do or say anything to remain in power – his hatred of American pre-eminence on the world stage. We have never had a president who felt it his mission to reduce the nation to benefit other nations.
It is an established fact that Obama is a devotee of Saul Alinsky – a completely amoral – “ends justify any means” individual. Obama has learned his lessons well and seeks to bring America down a peg by any and all means necessary. Obama is apparently quite comfortable with Lenin’s adage, “You’ve got to break a few eggs to make an omelet.”
It is only when one understands Obama’s motivations and complete lack of morality, that one can understand how this callous president could refer to the death of an American ambassador and other Americans in Libya as “bumps in the road.” One has to wonder, where does that road lead?
“Barack Hussein Obama & The Race Card” by Mind Numbed Robot
Barack Hussein Obama was swept into office by a wave of voters willing to give the new guy a shot. He offered a chance to redeem America from its original sin and at the same time promised to end the bi-partisan bickering of politics as usual in the DC beltway. He was a relative unknown on the national scene and took every advantage of that fact. After all, when a candidate doesn’t have a record to campaign on, it’s much easier to paint himself as the elixir for the times.
Four years later, we know a lot more about the man at the helm of our ship of state and it should be clear that Obama was either not ready for the task he was given or his prescriptions did not work as advertised. In fact, if they were meant to heal a nation of its economic malaise and draw the political parties together in some magical union of left and right then the cure was worse than the disease. The patient should switch doctors, stat.
Too many also, voted for Obama under the premise that he would close the supposed divide between the races, a flag his surrogates in the media fly on his behalf but one he seldom raises himself, as if to stay above the fray. Indeed, the subject of Obama’s race is ever in play by the media and that too has had the opposite effect than what Americans were promised, namely, more division, not less.
Sooner or later Barack Hussein Obama must lose his pigment to be judged by actions and results. That time is now. Americans must look at the man without the rainbow goggles and flowery rhetoric to discern what he and his party have accomplished in 4 years. We must decide if we are pleased with the results of Obama’s Transformational Vision for America:
- An America that believes the Constitution is flawed and must be remade or flat-out ignored.
- An America that owes the world an endless apology.
- An America that is not the last bastion if freedom in the world, not that shining city on the hill, but just another third world ghetto.
My friends, America deserves and demands better than Barack Hussein Obama’s dismal vision for our future. We must make that message crystal clear on November 6th in numbers that cannot be denied or ignored.
“US Relations With Islamic Countries _ Another Reason To Vote For Romney” from Conservatives on Fire
Obama came into office with zero experience in anything useful. But, narcissist that he is, he was sure that because his middle name was Hussein and because he went to a Muslim school in Indonesia when he was a child and because he had dreams from his Kenyan father that he could single-handedly resolve all the problems between the Muslim nations of the world and America.
Mitt Romney, of course, has no foreign affairs experience. But, we know that he has ben a very successful businessman. So, we can expect him, like a good businessman, to surround himself with the most capable people in foreign affairs that he can find. He would never nominate a woman to be Secretary of State whose only claim to fame was that she married a sexual predator who was once President of the United States. We know that a President Romney would never make a trip to Cairo to apologize for Americas past actions in the area nor would he bow to a Saudi king. A president Romney would not have ended the war in Iraq without maintaining a large air base we had there for strategic reason just because the Iraqi government, that we helped to bring about, didn’t want us there. A president Romney would never have announced two years in advance our withdrawal from Afghanistan giving the Taliban no reason to seek peace. A President Romney would have supported rebels in Iran in 2009. He would never have permitted his Secretary of State to train young Arabs from North Africa on how to organize protests against their governments. There never would have been an Arab Spring and there would still be the tenuous stability in the Middle-East held for the last forty years. Our embassies would not have been left unprotected and we would not have a dead ambassador and three of his staff in Libya. And, if there had been attacks on our people in that region, a president Romney would not have tried to place the blame on some stupid You Tube video when it was obviously a well planned terrorist attack. And, following some such attack, a president Romney would not have gone before the UN General Assembly and, at first defend our constitutionally protected right of free speech, only to turn around and say that we can’t let the world be won by those who insult Islam. And, a President Romney would not be seeking emergency aid for Egypt just after their Muslim Brotherhood President Morsi, stood in front of the UN General Assembly and told America where they could stuff it.
A President Romney may not be able to bring peace to the Muslim nations, not after the mess Barack Obama has made of our relations there; but we can know that he would deal with those nations from a position of strength and not of weakness, as Obama has done. Because of Obama, the Muslim world is a more dangerous place. Ask yourself, if trouble breaks out in that region, who would you rather have as the US president?
On November 6, 2012, vote for Mitt Romney!
“Supreme Court is Another Reason to Vote Romney This November” by Motorcitytimes.com
I didn’t support Romney in the primaries. However, after it became clear that he was going to become our nominee, I had an offline discussion with a smart and passionate Ron Paul supporter.
We discussed the wisdom of voting for, what amounts to, my second choice candidate. We bantered back and forth a few times then I said “no matter how bad you think Romney is, he would never nominate a left-wing lunatic like Elena Kagan or Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.” And I added, “Justice Kennedy has announced he plans to retire sometime after the 2012 election and Ginsberg is no spring chicken.”
What is worse, I said this to my passionate Libertarian friend before Justice Roberts flipped his vote in the ObamaCare debacle underscoring the urgency of getting more Constitutionalist Justices on the Court.
Intellectually, I understand why some passionate Libertarians and Conservatives want to sit out the upcoming elections. They are tired of holding their noses while voting for ‘the lesser of two evils.’
However, the prospect of Obama getting TWO MORE Supreme Court appointments, shifting the court even further to the left should frighten all freedom loving Americans into action.
Imagine four Obama Supreme Court Appointees blocking conservative reforms while rubber stamping every left-wing agenda item for the next 25 years.
If this happens, Obama will have succeeded in fundamentally transforming America.
“America’s Need for Energy” by WyBlog
President Obama calls his energy strategy “all of the above”. That’s actually a good description, because he’s gung-ho for everything that’s above the earth and abosolutely opposed to using anything found below ground.
Natural Gas? Only if it magically rises to the surface without drilling or fracking.
But solar power is the future! Just so long as you don’t put all those solar panels anywhere near an endangered species or pristine wetland. And wind turbines are all the rage, unless they’d block the Kennedy clan’s view or make too much noise near Barbra Streisand’s house.
The real danger with all these changes to the power grid is instability. Those coal plants provide a valuable service, keeping the flow of electricity constant in the face of varying demand. Solar cells can’t do that at night (or in the rain). And wind turbines don’t spin without wind. So you can’t flick a switch and expect them to work on a moment’s notice. We’d better get used to the idea of brownouts, and probably rolling blackouts too.
Just imagine the next hot summer day when you go to switch on your air conditioner only to discover that Obama’s “Smart Grid” has decided you’re not on the list for extra electricity today. Because that’s what’s coming if we don’t replace the 36,000 megawatts of generating capacity Obama has mothballed in the cause of saving the planet.
Strangely though President Obama insists everyone should drive an electric car. I suspect he’s unclear on exactly where the electricity comes from, because as the EPA shuts down many of our existing power plants the supply of electricity keeps shrinking. Hanging solar panels on lampposts won’t take up the slack either.
Yet if the price of gasoline keeps going up we may have no choice. California’s environmental regulations are generally held up as a model for the nation. And thanks to those regulations California leads the way in gas prices, topping $5 per gallon. They’re well on their way to fulfilling Steven Chu’s dream.
So what’s a concerned citizen to do? The good news is Governor Romney plans to take a more practical approach to energy policy if he’s elected president. Drilling for oil and gas is not incompatible with protecting the environment. American ingenuity and engineering know-how is the best in the world. We can make our nation energy independent, create good jobs, and do it safely and efficiently.
When it comes to energy the choice is clear. President Obama will ensure that we freeze in the dark. Mitt Romney can keep America working, with a balanced approach that recognizes the value in coal, oil, gas, nuclear, and yes green technologies too.
And there you have it. Six very good reasons to vote against Barack Obama and for Mitt Romney. On November 6th the choice is yours.
Laughing Joe Biden did his best Kanye West impersonation last night. 82 times. “Imma let you finish but…” However distracting the clown act was, he didn’t fool anyone with his outright lies.
Once again, Joe Biden lied his way through a Vice Presidential debate–just as he did in his contest with Sarah Palin in 2008. This time, the media caught a few of Biden’s worst “malarkey” moments–as did his opponent, Paul Ryan, when he could get a word in edgewise.
Here are the top ten worst lies told by Biden during the debate:
10. “With all due respect, that’s a bunch of malarkey….not a single thing he said is accurate.” At the outset of the debate, Biden tried to paint Ryan as a liar–when Biden, in fact, was the one lying. Ryan had pointed out: 1) that the White House had distanced itself from the Cairo embassy’s apologies on 9/11; 2) that Obama had failed to speak up for Iranian protestors in 2009; 3) that the Obama administration called Syria’s dictator a “reformer”; 4) and that the Obama administration is imposing defense cuts and projecting weakness. All of that is true.
9. “The president has met with Bibi [Netanyahu] a dozen times….This is a bunch of stuff.” While they have met several times–not a dozen–that includes a meeting at which Obama made the Israeli prime minister enter the White House through a back entrance, refused to take a picture with him, and left him on his own for dinner. Specifically, Ryan had criticized Obama’s refusal to meet Netanyahu in New York last month, and to tape talk show interviews instead–a clear snub that sent the wrong signal, again, to Israel’s enemies.
Be sure to read the other eight. Fact Check: Top Ten Worst Lies by Joe Biden in VP Debate
Much to the surprise of no one paying attention, one of the world’s largest restaurant chains is testing ways to deal with the upcoming Obamacare law.
Darden reportedly was a big supporter of the new law. Now it is scrambling to make adjustments to their bottom line as a result of it’s passage.
Darden, the world’s largest casual-dining company and one of the nation’s 30 largest employers, said it offers health insurance to all its approximately 185,000 employees. Many are offered a limited-benefit plan. That type of coverage is being phased out under health-care changes, which will ban annual limits for most plans.
About 25 percent of Darden workers are full time, meaning they work more than 30 hours a week. Though employees say Darden already offers traditional health insurance to full-timers, Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski said the cost of providing that could become higher for Darden under the Affordable Care Act. Because that law requires everyone to have health insurance, more workers will likely choose its coverage, Kalinowski said.
“Even a modest jump up in the amount of employees that decide they want the insurance you’re offering could have a meaningful impact on your bottom line,” he said.
And they should.

Yes. For some reason, it seems we need to.
The coming 2012 election should not be framed in ideology of Right versus Left, Republican vs. Democrat or Libertarian/Conservative vs. Liberal.
The main issue of this election is whether we the people of this country choose to enslave our neighbors using the machinery of mob rule democracy or reclaim our lost liberties and return to the original intent of our Constitutional Republic. That is the issue.
Either you are an asset to society or you are a burden on it.
The 2012 election should be framed in light of the government’s unbridled over-expansion. Today, the US government in engaged in an unhinged, un-American mission to encourage sloth and preach entitlement theology, enabled and encouraged by the uninformed citizen and the educated elitist alike while funding the assault on the backs of the very people they prostitute but claim to protect: the everyday American.
This is but one example from The Heritage Foundation 2011 Budget Chart Book
The world the Statists would establish is one of dependency on government as a patriarch who makes even the most mundane decisions for us and therefore, as a child of government, we will have no rights or property except what illusion they would allow.
This election is about American versus un-American.
It’s about Freedom versus Slavery.
I’ve been thinking along these lines for a while. After all, what is governmental redistribution of wealth but slavery? But the possibility that there may be more people in this country who are against America as founded than are for it really hit home when I saw this retweeted from Pat Dollard last week:
Scary, but true. RT @PatDollard If Obama wins the next election, then there aren’t enough Americans left for it to be America anymore.
To which I replied:
Too true. Unfortunate as well is, that knowledge could serve to energize either base.
Have too many Americans forgotten what it means to be uniquely American?
It’s a bit terrifying to me that we’ve come this far down the road to Socialism, Communism or Statism. Call it what you will, but the America we thought we knew is teetering on the precipice of a debt cliff caused by overspending on unearned entitlements. If it is not reversed, America simply can not survive. No country can, or ever has when using the economic model being employed.
It’s as if there is some genetic defect that keeps mutating every generation, eating away at our Self Reliance Gene. Everywhere you look, before acting, (pod) people stop and ask themselves what kind of government subsidy can they get for doing A, B or C or what entity they need approval from to do X, Y or Z, or boast to a co-worker about how much Uncle Sam gave him for his clunker or how much they received from some other such government incentive program. Where do you think that money comes from?
It is through slow, methodical, generational training that you feel these things are normal.
Once upon a glorious free country, you needed only the approval of your heart and a fearless ambition to pursue whatever you set in your mind to. As long as no-one else or their property was harmed, then by all means, go ahead. You were free to succeed and free also to fail. Now, that freedom to act at will has been taken from us. We must get a permit to do just about anything. Someone or some entity must approve of your plans before you can break ground on a homestead, start a business or attempt to market your latest invention, all under the guise of government knowing better than you. Slowly, generation by generation, the evil that is an unrestrained government has eaten away at the American foundation of self reliance.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis
English essayist & juvenile novelist (1898 – 1963)
Make no mistake folks, this election is about the survival of America as she was founded.
It will be the single most important election in which you ever will cast a vote. America lives or dies in 2012. This election is about defining what it means to be an American. The true definition of an American has been gerrymandered and perverted by the media, in legislation and regulation and in the halls of “higher education.”
“Concentrated power is not rendered harmless by the good intentions of those who create it.”
The true definition of an American has been diluted by diversity and diffused by political correctness. Our defining characteristic, what makes us Americans, has in some cases been stolen along with our dignity. We must reclaim our pride in our American heritage and reassert our love of liberty by standing up to the detractors, the apologists, the America haters and the would be en-slavers.
This election is about American self reliance versus forced servitude. It is also about framing the question as such.
The good news is that, according to the Obama administration, the rich will pay for everything. The bad news is that, according to the Obama administration, you’re rich.
P. J. O’Rourke
It is un-American to take from your neighbor so that you may have what he doesn’t.
It is also un-American to take from someone who works so that you don’t have to. Right now there are working class people who toil away at their jobs under threat of losing their livelihood if they show up late, fail a drug test, are insubordinate to their employer or any number of prerequisites for employment while at the same time, the people who benefit from those stolen monies are not required to adhere to any such standards. That is un-American to its core. It is also thievery.
In America today one can’t get a decent job without background checks and drug tests and aptitude tests and any number of requirements for employment. It’s a circus of flaming hoops, but we do it because we love our families, we still have our pride and we need to make money to survive. What pride the takers once had, they exchanged for a welfare check or a stack of food stamps and a cell phone at the behest of a ‘benevolent’ government. Without renouncing their selfish attitude, is there any question to what they will vote for? They will vote for more of your money and they will do so because of generational training.
These people are our brothers and sisters. They are our fellow Americans. They don’t desire our pity, nor would we grant them any. They have simply lost their feeling of self worth and may not even be aware of it. I believe some of them deep down, know or suspect the wrong they are doing, the harm they inflict on their own country, but peer pressure and the entitlement culture beckon them to stay in the fold. Sadly, the ultimate irony is, the problem was created by the very bureaucrats they vote to keep in office, urged to do so by demagogue leaders willing to sell them down the road to maintain their own minor pedestals of power. It is a fact that inequity exists in the American system, truly, it exists in all governments to some degree, but one cannot legislate equality of outcome, only equality of opportunity. That is the promise of America’s Constitution.
That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.
When the politicians and political hypochondriacs scream that some true libertarian/conservative wants to end Social Security or that the TEA Party wants to kill grandma or end some so-called entitlement, they are selling all Americans into slavery, plain and simple.
We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.
It’s time for Americans to re-claim what it means to be a true American.
Instead of thinking “What is government going to give me?” (What can I take from my neighbor?), we need to think about what we can do for our neighbors.
Like the Founders before us, we can give them freedom. It’s up to all of us to keep it.
That is what it means to be a true American.
A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.
Note: I thought this piece relevant because of the recent debate over Gov. Romney’s remarks about the entitlement mindset.
